Coordinates
When I sat in the car with Romča and drove to our friends' house to ride our gravel bikes, I never imagined that I might make something I'd come back to again and again, something that would inspire me to write this:
There are situations that come only when you least expect them, they are very unpredictable. I am really not the person who would plan for a perfect angle, light, shadows… anything. I react very spontaneously to these situations. At many times I miss them, or I am too slow, or even I just get caught up enjoying it and forget about taking pictures. But when all my senses are focused enough and I am lucky, I get a photo that's not just a photo.
The moment burns into my mind, because it includes everything I felt at that very second. I guess I can call it memory.
For you, it's just a photo, for me it's coordinates to a specific shelf in my mind to access and recall everything about that moment. Not all of my photos possess this magic, but some do.
This is what I've grown to like about photography, and I think this is a very beautiful thing to learn through taking photos.
