Mid—September

Mid-September ride with friends when the light is low and shadows are long. You have to wear a jacket when descending and you're sweating when climbing. When there is still plenty of time to talk and laugh and to forget about the routines of life. When sunset is closer than you think and the night hits hard. When your lights are forgotten at home and you're following friends down the hill who did not forget. The moon is bright and the temperature is dropping — for the first time since summer, your fingers actually feel the cold. I am just trying to capture the last bits of realness in this world. That's what this is all about.
